There are always two sides to every story, and here is ours:
We have worked with Joy and Harmony New Beginnings for many years. We have adopted many types of animals, from old dogs to ducks, chickens, and turkeys, to even adopting horses from them as well. We still to this day have a dog that came from there. Many of these animals were fostered with us in an effort to assist Harmony New Beginnings with the rehabilitation process.
First off: Yes. Thunder was in bad shape. I had hoped he would put on more weight as we rolled into a late spring, but I wasn't as optimistic as I wanted to be. I just had really hoped to give him one more good year once the weather turned.
The article posted makes it seem like we starved horses... These horses are feed premium Orchard Grass, Timothy and Alfalfa in certain situations based on our opinion of their needs and honestly, yes: price was taken into account sometimes. That being said, they were never starved. None of them.
We own a feed store. I bought it so I could get all the grain, supplements, tack, vaccines, you name it, at wholesale prices so that they COULD have the best of everything.
We had the same Vet that came out with Animal Control last week check the entire herd as well as the cow. Her recommendations were fairly basic, a couple horses need their teeth floated, but we knew that and have them done every year. Sunny's eye is not an infection like the article claimed and is being treated.
I doubt it will stop Justin Alderman and his harassment campaign, but maybe will set the record straight for others who have not had the chance to get the full story.
So here we are now, Joy. You somehow got involved with Justin Alderman with NW Horse Reports. He has previously sued us for defamation of character regarding a review that I had posted on Google. The review was based about the FACT that he backed out of a deal for a horse and still owes me for boarding another horse, to this day.
You can ask pretty much anyone who boarded at Rock Creek Stables if they got their $400 deposit back when he was forced to close, and you will be hard-pressed to find someone who actually did. He Stole Boarders Tack before he was trespassed from the boarding facility he tried to run with zero experience.
Alderman started his website, NW Horse Reports, to harass me and other horse people in the area, and you can share liability for publishing this trash.
I have decided to go ahead with a lawsuit. I will be suing Alderman and NW Horse Reports, Harmony New Beginnings, Joy Laudahl and Mary Renouf For Defamation of Character, Slander and Tortious Interference. Now my horses and I will be working to pay attorneys for awhile.
So lets break down all the problems you posted on your Facebook page, one by one.
This is a picture of the wall of HAY, Irrigated orchard grass from Central Oregon... Probably better than your donation hay.
You were forced to walk by the wall while trespassing on my property. There are unused bags of feed on the right side of the hall way ???
After fostering so many animals from your rescue it would seem to me your reputation should be in question.
Why Lie ?
All of these horses have access to about 8 acres of pasture, as we are resting a few acres. The arena is ALWAYS open to them for shelter from the rain. We do get a bit more rain than folks inland, so we make sure that they have 24/7 access to the arena from both rain and wind.
To say anything different is just another lie.
In what is normally a wet time of year anyway, we are experiencing an unusually wet and cold Spring, as I am sure you are aware. I am also quite sure you have had issues with mud and feces at your own little Heaven on Earth, as I have been there many times to haul of your rescue animals out....
He is a dairy cow and they don't bulk up like the typical bull that you seem to think he is. Experience in this business makes a difference.
Drive by any dairy, and before you smear your bullshit, pay close attention to the quality of hay MY cow eats, compared to a typical dairy cow.
This stall is actually larger than a typical horse stall

This stall is actually larger than a typical horse stall and is temporary, as we do want him out with the herd.
Like many young bulls, he has turned out to be a pain in the ass when it comes to fencing...one issue we are currently working on remedying.
We have a single, on-sight caretaker, who lives in a camper on the premises. We do also use a portion of the barn NOT occupied by animals to store a couple of campers and some shelving that we recently moved out of our feed store.
It will be the last post I drop on your page

We know it is your plan to take my horses because you know how much they are worth and sell them for your own profit.
Shame on You
The horse in this picture is Thunder's slightly younger sister JET, literally after I pulled her saddle. No ribs , just a lot of shedding going on because we are in Spring !

We actually have more grain than most people at our feed store.
Feed was never an issue; they have always been well fed.
We were really hoping that, as we moved into Spring, that we would be able to put the necessary weight on Phantom and he could have one more good year, but I guess giving a horse that opportunity was asking to much from Harmony...
I understand you have a video of Ghost while having a seizure on the day he was put down.
Ghost suffered from a disease called "PSSM"
We spent a small fortune keeping him healthy for years until that day because he was our pet, not a piece of livestock. A lot of people loved that horse and it was difficult to let him go.
Thanks for seizing on the moment to try and take my animals from me.
The dairy cow may never make to anyone's freezer, just so you know.
This cow has proven to be nimble enough to get under fences. He is still young and has only very recently been confined to a stall (not unlike any stall at Harmony: 12x12). He knocks his water bucket over daily, and it gets refilled daily.
As far as the turkey goes, I am

As far as the turkey goes, I am actually a little glad you took him. I had promised to eat him the next time he attacked me, which is the reason for the cage.
That looks like water
It is also NOT their only source, just so you know.
If you associate yourselves with Alderman, you will regret it. I definitely do.
To Mary Renouf:
You must be new to the rescue thing. I wish I had the time and money to just volunteer mucking stalls for the occasional ride.
I know you and Joy mean well, but spewing lies to make a name for yourself in the horse world will not get you out of that volunteer job at the rescue.
You write well, but know very little about what you're doing, and it is actually the definition of slander and defamation of character. I know this well because Alderman, aka NW Horse Reports, sued me for it and I intend to follow his lead. I plan to sue you, Harmony and Alderman and let the insurance companies sort this out.
To Joy and Harmony New Beginnings:
I just spent 2 hours on the phone reassuring another rescue owner that that the horse we adopted was safe and fine. I took all of her advice about feeding and putting weight on horses with issues like illness and old age. You could probably benefit from a conversation with her, because she has forgotten more than you even know about the whole 501c3 rescue operation, and you must have a board of directors, that I can get on or at least talk to.
We run a very respectable operation, and it is sad to see you seize on this opportunity when we have done the rehab work for you in the past. If there are any other horses on my property that came from you I will gladly hand them over, just to be done with Harmony for good.
I am so sick of your shitty, stupid opinions, and your fucking lies, as well as the harassment from your buddy Alderman, that I will be going forward with legal action.
Good Day
